Farnborough Colts 27 Petersfield Colts 30: A SUNNY afternoon away fixture at Farnborough saw Petersfield’s Colts come away victors in their second league match of the season.
From the off, White’s individual play put pressure on the opposition, leading to a penalty and a quick three points, confidently kicked by Matthews. Farnborough soon replied with heavy forward pressure until a skilful steal of the ball by Rodd halted the home team’s efforts. However the Farnborough push continued culminating in them making it over the try-line, but without the conversion.
In spite of the sterling efforts of Allen playing in his regular forward position, Farnborough were soon placing the ball down again for another try after quick play from a penalty advantage.
The re-start saw Field embark on a relentless session of play, forcing maximum pressure on the home side resulting in Macdonald punching through the Farnborough defence for a try.
The second half started with notable effort from Field, and Farnborough were given minimal opportunity to defend their quarter. Coles commenced the gold rush for Field, with a double whammy two tries to follow from Heath, post exceptional effort from Rodd persistently carving up the Farnborough defence, who also added to the try tally himself.
Farnborough, aware that the game may be escaping their grasp, responded with a try from their number eight.
As the game drew to a close Field defended relentlessly, and Field held out to continue their 100 per cent winning start to the league and retain top spot in the table.
