Overton Colts 15 Petersfield Colts 28: PETERSFIELD Colts beat Overton to maintain their 100 per cent record in the league.

Early play saw a committed Overton side pressurise the visitors back into their half, but solid tackling from Matthews showed Overton that the visiting team were not prepared to yield defensively.

Shirley’s sterling efforts for Field provided an opening for winger Heath to capitalise on. His turn of pace took him from deep inside his own 22-metre line to score under the posts.

Further strong play from the visiting side soon saw Shirley running over a second try, which was converted. The home team continued to press the visitors and scored an unconverted try. Overton came close to scoring again before the break, with Field holding up the ball on the try line.

The beginning of the second half saw numerous changes for both teams; the pace of play and difficult conditions taking its toll on both squads.

Field continued to be stoic in defence while making the most of their opportunities. Hirst scored Field’s third try, which was duly converted.

Field's final try saw a dazzling move by Matthews leave the Overton defence static. Matthews added the conversion, achieving four from four in blustery conditions.

Overton managed to score another two tries, which they failed to convert, giving Field a solid and well-earned victory on away turf once again.
