Petersfield Colts 32 Alton Colts B 7: PETERSFIELD Colts hosted a friendly match against local rivals Alton B at Penns Place.

Maybe the last bit of proper sunshine this summer helped provide the backdrop for a close match.

Petersfield applied early pressure and spent the opening section in Alton’s half, although the visitors were to press back, making for a tight contest.

It was well into the half before Heath broke through to open the scoring for Field, and Ullyott was to follow up with another try shortly afterwards.

Alton were strong at the breakdown and their perseverance paid off with a well-deserved converted try to end the half trailing by just three points.

In the second half once again it was a tight contest before eventually Raeburn showed the opposition his heels to score in the corner for Field.

Deeper into the half Devlin went blind off a scrum and in textbook fashion released Raeburn to add to his tally. The conversion was successfully added.

Not to be left out Keast burst through the defensive line to push Field further ahead, and White scored his first try for the club shortly afterwards.

Man-of-the-match went to Heath, whose safe hands, runs and intelligent use of the boot were very impressive.

A good win for Petersfield, although the scoreline of 32-7 in favour of Petersfield perhaps did not reflect just how close a match it was and how well Alton had played.
