Petersfield Colts 19 Farnborough Colts 0: PETERSFIELD Colts won their first play-off match against Farnborough at Penns Place.

Both sides were hard at it, and on each other, for a good portion of the game with some crunching tackles going in across the park.

A number of penalties were conceded by both teams and hard fought ball at the ruck resulted in numerous turnovers.

Frantic play often trumped composed and measured play and it was deep into the first half before Field managed to penetrate the defence with fast ball releasing Grey who powered through to score beneath the posts. Kay converted well having narrowly missed an earlier penalty attempt.

The second half continued in much the same fashion albeit both sides tried to move the ball about more.

Again it took some time before the pressure told and fast feet enabled Caines to force the next try for Field, with Kay once again ensuring maximum points from that effort were achieved by slotting the extras.

Farnborough were not going to roll over and for a good passage of play they pinned Field deep into their own half. The visitors threatened to score, but Field were resolute in defence.

Good decision making saw Field put Farnborough under pressure again with Truman adding the final try before the wayward conversion attempt signalled full time.

Petersfield Colts have another play-off match next week to determine the final rankings in their league.
