Old Georgians 62 Petersfield 12: PETERSFIELD crashed to an emphatic defeat against fellow London South West 3 strugglers Old Georgians on Saturday.
Injuries and absences once again came to the fore and head coach James Alder was required to select a changed squad, the fourth in as many matches.
Field conceded their first try in the first few minutes of the match, the defence pulled from side to side before Old Georgians scored in the right-hand corner – the conversion excellently taken from the touchline.
Petersfield went on the attack but the home side turned the ball over and ran the length of the pitch to score a second try halfway through the first quarter.
On 15 minutes the hosts scored their third try. In the build-up to the score, Ben Wakefield was left sitting dejectedly on halfway courtesy of a badly damaged ankle.
After a hiatus of some minutes, play was moved to another pitch to allow the game to continue while Wakefield waited for the ambulance to take him to hospital.
The hosts scored their fourth try, before Field put points on the board through a Ryan Morse try as Morse muscled past three defenders. Josh Haslett converted.
Old Georgians then scored two more tries to lead 38-7 at half time.
The home side scored four further tries in the second half, with Alex Patience crashing over from a five-metre penalty lineout to claim Field’s second try in response. Haslett’s conversion slid wide of the posts.
