PETERSFIELD Rugby Club head coach James Alder was pleased with his side’s performance in their 22-22 draw against Trojans on Saturday.

Alder said: “This was a great team performance with every player playing a massive part in the result. I’m proud of the team spirit and determination to keep at the task – we were literally a bounce of the ball away from a five-point win.

“Our pack again dominated the scrum and made the lineout a good competition and our backs, although shuffled again, showed their quality with good continuity.

“I think we proved how well we can play.”

The performance and results elsewhere lifted Field up one place from the foot of the table to 11th place.

Field face a tough away fixture tomorrow (Saturday) at fellow strugglers Old Whitgiftian, who are in tenth place, knowing that a win is a must if they want a hope of maintaining their league status.
