PETERSFIELD Rugby Club will be looking to complete the double this weekend when they host Farnborough in the final of the Hampshire Plate at 3pm on Sunday.
Field sealed the Snows Group Hampshire 1 title and promotion to London 3 South West earlier this month with a 53-17 win against title rivals New Milton in their last league game of the season.
And head coach James Alder is hoping his side can complete the double against Farnborough at Penns Place.
Alder said: “I’m very much looking forward to it as it’s another big game with a lot riding on it. If we can complete the double it will be a very successful season.”
Field beat Farnborough twice in Snow Group Hampshire 1 this season, with a 30-7 away win and a 48-0 win at home, but Alder is expecting a tough test on Sunday.
“Since we beat Farnborough 48-0 they’ve got some new players,” said Alder.
“We will prepare like we are playing New Milton, and if we produce the same performance that will stand us in good stead. We are preparing to be proactive in attack and defence.
“We set the standard with our performance against New Milton, but I feel that was 80 per cent of our true ability. There is more to come from this team.”
Alder is hoping the people of Petersfield pack out the Penns Place clubhouse and support the team on Sunday.
He said: “Farnborough are bringing a coach of supporters and we want the whole of Petersfield to get behind us.”
