Petersfield 33 Teddington 25: PETERSFIELD’S bonus-point win on Saturday gained the side a modicum of revenge for their single-point defeat by Teddington earlier in the season.
Teddington put the hosts under a lot of pressure early on, and Field conceded a penalty just inside the halfway line. The Teddington kicker added the three points to put his side into an early lead as the first quarter was petering out.
The home side responded well and Carl Sharrock scored Petersfield’s first try, which was coolly converted by Nick Blumlein.
Field struck again when Blumlein flicked a backhand pass to put young Olly Pope clear through for Field’s second, converted, try.
Teddington then produced a decisive move to score their first try, which was unconverted.
Field used the restart to get a foothold in Teddington’s 22 and pulled the visitors out of shape to set up a try for Tom Land. Blumlein added the extras.
Teddington went down the other end and crossed the line for their second try, which was converted. The half-time whistle sounded with Field 21-15 to the good.
Field’s bonus-point try came within minutes of the start of the second half. Sharrock fed Blumlein, who won the foot race to score in the corner before adding the extras to make it 28-15.
Teddington hit back with a try, but this was followed by a try from Field captain Matt Momber. Teddington scored again ten minutes later to secure a try bonus point and make it 33-25.
