PETERSFIELD Rugby Football Club’s senior players have kicked off the new season with a host of friendly warm-up games at Penns Place prior to league action starting towards the end of September.

The first XV have had the bulk of the success with two wins at Penns Place against Chineham and Tadley first XVs.

Field amassed 88 points for the loss of just 15 over the two fixtures. The second and third teams have had their share of tough encounters. A loss against Chichester’s third XV was followed by a tight and absorbing game against Kingsclere’s second XV. The end result was a draw with both teams scoring an unconverted try. Field’s colts have also been in action, holding a training game with Gosport and Fareham. With Gosport boasting a number of county players, it was a real test for Field as they rebuild from last year and manage the change to just the under-17/18 age groups.
