PETERSFIELD Rugby Club once again will throw open its doors and invite everyone to Penns Place for a traditional Boxing Day knees-up, as a President’s XV take on the Exiles for the Andy Millar Memorial Cup.

Come rain, hail or snow, the cafe and bar will be open and for the players there will be a refreshing mince pie and mulled wine at half time. Hot snacks will be available to help keep spectators warm while they watch the game.

Last year the Exiles stopped the President’s two-game winning streak with a fine display of running rugby, paying back the trouncing of the previous year with one of their own. The tale of the tape is now two wins apiece, so it’s all to play for in a fixture that is usually very competitive and high scoring – averaging 70 points a game.

With so many senior players and such a lot of talent in the club this season the selectors should be spoiled for choice whoever turns up, and the scene is set for a very entertaining afternoon.

Players are requested to be at the club for 11am on Boxing Day, with the match scheduled to kick off at 12pm. Anyone intending to play should let Jon Walker or Andy Patience know in advance, although people can turn up and play on the day.
