Petersfield Rugby Club warmed up for the new season with a pre-season friendly against Millbrook.

A squad of some 30 senior men took part in the match at Penns Place. The match was the first opportunity for the players and new coaches Liam Perkins and Matt McClean to play against visiting opposition – giving Petersfield and their visitors valuable game time.

The game was divided in to four quarters to enable player rotation, trial of positions and on field strategies. It also gave valuable real-time practice of the revised laws of the game – importantly the tackle height law which was competently executed by both teams and the referee.

Petersfield won 54-19 with tries scored by Nick Wilde, Ben Wakefield, Nick Blumlein, Josh Norris, George Davies (2) and Charlie Muir (2).
