Petersfield 35 Bognor 12: PETERSFIELD comfortably beat Bognor in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
While Petersfield won promotion last season, Bognor were relegated from London 3 South West.
Field opened their account at the start of the second quarter when Josh Haslett pounced on the loose ball before skipping through the remaining defenders to score. Nick Blumlein added the extras.
Field scored again just before the half, the rampaging Seb Tuff powerfully finishing after a series of phases by the pack, and Blumlein made sure of the conversion to send the home side in 14-0 ahead at the break.
Bognor finally opened their account halfway through the third quarter but were trumped by three more tries from Field.
The first try came from Momber, who sold his opposite number the simplest of dummies to score from five metres out, the pack having worked remorselessly through the phases into the Bognor 22 from the defensive ten-metre line.
With ten minutes left in the game, Field scrum half, Michael Robbins, finished off a break from midway into the Bognor half.
Minutes later Joe Heath gathered his finely weighted kick through on the bounce with a full-length dive to ensure the score. Blumlein was again accurate off the tee, making him five out of five on conversions.
Bognor scored a second try when their backs ran a good line to cut through the defence. The converted kick ended the game.
