Trojans III 17 Petersfield II 43: PETERSFIELD’S second XV followed up their first league win a fortnight ago with a healthy victory away at Trojans.
It was definitely a game of two halves for the visitors, as they struggled to get up to speed following a weekend off last week. Field struggled to execute the basics and allowed Trojans to get ahead from the outset of the match. When half time came, the home side had a 12-0 lead and the visitors knew they would have to pull their socks up if they wanted anything from the game.
Field drew first blood when the second half got underway. From this opening score, Field showed themselves to be a new team and, once the floodgates were opened, there was no stopping them.
The tries rained in from the visitors with seven scored for the loss of just one. By the time the final whistle sounded, Adams, Coombes-Excell and Samworthy had scored a try each, with Thomas and Orr claiming a brace. Groves was keen with the boot as usual, making four of the conversions.
The result lifts a resurgent Field to third in the league on score difference, as they the Heathens and Stoneham all share the same points. Next week Field host Ryde, who currently sit just below them in the table.
