Overton II 25 Petersfield II 45: PETERSFIELD’S second team were looking for a step up in team cohesion following a loss two weeks ago.

Field only had 14 players to start but they dominated the first quarter of the match in terms of possession and territory. Within five minutes Field’s centre Thomas incurred an injury that forced him to leave the match, but Field’s 13 men took the lead when Flett put Giles in for the opening try.

Overton managed to battle their way back into the match and responded with a try of their own that was duly converted.

A few onslaughts from the hosts were repelled by the visitors and a steal and break by Flett nudged Field back ahead. Fast ball to the backs led to Powell scoring Field’s next try, with Flett adding the conversion.

Overton used the wind advantage to gain territory and drove over to end the half 17-14 in favour of Field.

Petersfield dominated the second half and Kemp took the ball in at a line out and then powered over to score. With Bremner now on the park, and with the wind assisting, the conversion was well taken from a tight angle.

Field were now at full strength on the pitch, and Farr released Bremner to score. Powell benefited from the work by the forwards and Flett added to his tally.

Bremner did not miss any of the conversions, taking the score pretty much out of reach of the home side.

Overton scored a consolation try but ultimately succumbed to the more aggressive and well structured play from the visitors.
