PETERSFIELD Rugby Club’s third team were in action on Saturday, when they fell to a 39-5 defeat against Southampton’s second team at Penns Place in their Hampshire 4 encounter.

The scoreline belied the excitement of an entertaining match in which both sides had lots of opportunities.

The teams take a break this weekend, so Petersfield’s senior players can catch their breath and put their efforts and focus into their training sessions.

On Saturday, January 26, Petersfield’s first team return to Penns Place for their third home match in a row, this time against the second-placed team, Battersea Ironsides. Petersfield will be looking for revenge after falling to a 29-7 defeat in the reverse league fixture on October 6.

On Saturday, the Ironsides inflicted only the second defeat so far this season on runaway league leaders Winchester.
