Trojans 40 Petersfield 7: PETERSFIELD produced a lacklustre first-half display as they lost against Trojans.

Field’s hopes were dashed by the half hour mark as the tired-looking visitors laboured to pull together an effective attack while their lack of three-quarter personnel left them cruelly under resourced in defence. The bright spark on a generally dull day was the consolation try, and conversion, by Seb Kay that took the teams in to the half time break at 33-7.

The visitors worked hard to limit their hosts to just one score in the second half.

Two yellow cards in quick succession reduced Field to 13 men for five minutes during the third quarter.

The first yellow card was for a technical infringement by Max Kemp, which was immediately followed by Trojans’ sixth and final try.

The second yellow card came when Ryan Morse and an opposition player were both sent to the sin bin.

Despite the disruption caused by the cards and enforced personnel changes – for example, influential young hooker, Nic Wilde, popped up at makeshift outside centre for the last quarter of the game – Field made a much better fist of the second half with the bulk of play being in the home team’s half and Field had a fair share of possession to boot.

However, while they looked to have more bite in attack, Field lacked accuracy and coughed the ball up cheaply at crucial moments.

Franko Tomic had perhaps Field’s clearest chance to score in the second half with a bullocking drive.
