DUE TO the vagaries of February’s fixture list, Field’s senior teams have not been over blessed with matches with only two per side.

The first team played their league fixtures at the start of the month, while the second and third teams played over the last two weekends.

On Saturday, the third team played their second friendly game of February – at home to Alton’s second team – while their second team colleagues travelled to meet Basingstoke’s third team. Both of the teams were hoping to bounce back from defeats last week.

On a dreary day at Penns Place, the third team began brightly enough in their match. The score was close at the break, with Field trailing 12-5, but Alton surged ahead in the second half to win 31-10.

The second team, meanwhile, had an altogether different match, preventing Basingstoke from scoring while scoring 12 tries, a cheeky drop goal from Alex Groves and a bunch of conversions to win 73-0.

All of the seniors are back in league action on the Saturday, March 5, and they will be looking to finish the season on a high.
