Petersfield 6 Andover II 1: PETERSFIELD hosted Andover on a sunny afternoon after losing against Winchester in their previous match.
Petersfield took charge of the match from the first whistle with good team play and team spirit. The defence and midfield broke up all attacks and kept Andover at bay while the attack caused chaos in Andover’s circle. Petersfield broke the deadlock and then doubled their advantage with goals from J Atkinson and Harris after fine wing play.
In the second half Andover grabbed a goal after a loose clearance to bring the score to 2-1 within the opening five minutes of the half. Petersfield were determined to increase their lead to keep control the game, frustrating a handful of Andover players. Further goals came from J Atkinson and Harris before Grinstead scored a penalty flick after Harris was fouled in the circle. Edwards added the final goal after Petersfield capitalised on quick link up play between Edwards and Grinstead.
Petersfield lie in fifth place in the table due to their goal difference, and the team will look to extend their winning run against Chichester this coming weekend.
