Petersfield III 6 Aldershot & Farnham VI 4: PETERSFIELD Hockey Club’s men’s third team earned another win.
Petersfield fielded a team with a number of positional changes and new faces, and they took 20 minutes to settle into a rhythm.
Petersfield creating plenty of scoring opportunities, and two goals from King and one from Ankers gave the hosts a 3-1 lead at the break.
A second goal from Ankers early in the second half should have made for a comfortable lead, however Aldershot and Farnham retaliated strongly. Twice in quick succession the away team found holes in the Petersfield defence and pulled back two goals to put Petersfield’s lead under pressure at 4-3.
Pruden dived in for the deflection from a strike at a penalty corner to make it 5-3, but Aldershot and Farnham countered again to pull the score back to 5-4.
Petersfield’s forwards played high up the pitch and stretched the Aldershot and Farnham defence, creating the space needed for Petersfield to take control of the midfield. A quick through ball found Price, who swept the ball in at the back post to put Petersfield 6-4 up.
