TWO PLAYERS from Petersfield Bowling and Snooker Club have become the first pair from the club to win the Midhurst and District Snooker League Pairs Cup since Peter Groocock and Ken Fell achieved the feat more than 20 years ago.
Anthony Prior and Marc Lockley have previously come close a couple of times but this year they finally managed to overcome the challenge of Midhurst pairing John Stubbington and Nick Merritt 3-1 in the final.
The Petersfield pair had lost the first frame in each of their rounds but trusting a couple of changes in their tactics proved successful as they saw off pairs from Midhurst, Petworth, Petersfield and Fernhurst.
This caps an impressive year for the pair, who were also part of the Petersfield Bowling and Snooker Club team which won the Midhurst and District Snooker League Division 1 league title.
