THREE Petersfield Triathlon Club members qualified for international competition this year to represent Great Britain in their age groups.
Two qualified for the standard distance event at the European Triathlon Age Group Championships, and one for the sprint distance event at the World Triathlon Age Group Championships.
Jenny Philips and David Robbins both qualified for the European Triathlon Championships which were held in Kitzbuhel in the Austrian Alps.
Jenny qualified for the standard distance event at the Worthing Triathlon on a very blustery day. The sea was so rough that some athletes didn’t even start the race. The weather was somewhat better when Jenny got to the European Championships, and Jenny came 19th out of the 45 in her age group and was eighth out of the 19 Great Britain women in her age group.
David gained his qualification for the European Championships by finishing eighth at the Age Group European Championship in Lisbon but he was unable to compete at Kitzbuhel due to injury.
David hopes to be fit for the 2018 season when he will be targeting a Great Britain place at the European and World Championship events.
Julie Gadsden qualified for the sprint distance event at the World Triathlon Championships, having qualified for the Great Britain team at her first open-water sprint competition at Eton Dorney.
She will be travelling to Rotterdam for the World Championships this month.
