Winchester Wizards 1 Petersfield Veterans 5: AN UNDER-strength Petersfield Veterans side struggled against Winchester Wizards in a fractious game.

Petersfield started slowly, and an early green card was shown to Rowland for not retreating. This was followed by a yellow card for Hulme.

Petersfield’s discipline improved and they took the lead when Liddle hit a thunderbolt from the top of the D.

This was swiftly followed by a second goal when Pruden was found by Davis, pulled into space and drilled the ball into the centre of the goal to give Petersfield a two-goal lead at half time.

In the second half Petersfield were, effectively, a man down with Pruden hobbling up front with a pulled hamstring. Winchester took advantage when Petersfield’s marking lapsed, allowing them to score a soft goal with a deft deflection.

Further Winchester pressure followed and Broadmeadow did well to turn a penalty corner on to the post.

A rapid counter attack followed with Hulme and Parker combining well to give a precise pass to Pruden who, despite his injury, found space on the reverse stick to slam the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.

Pruden then received a yellow card and Petersfield again came under pressure.

Another counter attack again found Pruden, who completed his hat-trick to wrap up the game.

Davis completed the scoring in the dying minutes, pushing the ball over the line following a mazy run and deft pass from Parker.
