Winchester Ladies III 2 Petersfield Ladies 3: PETERSFIELD Ladies faced Winchester Ladies’ third team on a very sunny day.

Both teams were eager to win points from this game, and they attacked each other’s goals constantly in the first 20 minutes. The first goal went to Winchester. Petersfield went straight back on the counter attack. Easton drove the ball into the Winchester goal, where she was fouled. Petersfield were awarded a short corner, and Ivey passed the ball to Hedges who slipped it to Sinclair. Sinclair scored and the score was 1-1 at half time.

Winchester went into full attack mode at the beginning of the second half. They overwhelmed the Petersfield defence and scored in the first ten minutes. Petersfield were undaunted by this and went straight back on the attack. Eddy, Harris, Simmons and Easton were now goal hungry. They went into the Winchester circle and had innumerable shots on goal, but the Winchester goalie made a large number of saves that kept them at bay. Finally Eddy flicked the ball over the goalie to make the score 2-2. In the final quarter of the match Eddy took control of the ball at the edge of the D, went past two defenders and placed it into the goal. Winchester were down but not out and went on the attack in the last minutes of the game. They came close to equalising but good defending by Preston denied the home team another goal.
