Petersfield Ladies II 4 Fareham Ladies III 1: A WIN for second-placed Petersfield Ladies’ second team against the top team would make the fight for the top spot in Division 5 extremely close.
Fareham started shakily and allowed Petersfield too much space on the pitch. Conran and Marks ruled the right flank and put in attack after attack on the Fareham goal. A cross from forward O’Kelly was swiftly converted by Purkiss. Fareham responded, but it was not enough to rattle Houghton in goal. A Stockley free hit was picked up in midfield by King junior, who drove play forward and gave Purkiss another chance to score. Shortly afterwards King junior was able to convert a short corner just before the break.
After the break Fareham had an opportunity to score, but defender Mackin did not leave them any chance to drive the ball into the Petersfield half circle. A perfectly placed pass gave midfielder Geer the chance to deflect the ball to O’Kelly, who finished the game with a fourth goal for Petersfield.
