THE 288TH running of Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun on Saturday saw 71 people run, jog and walk the course.

Twenty-three were first timers, two recorded new personal bests and representatives of 21 running clubs took part.

The first finisher this week was first-time visitor Jon Williams, from Ware Joggers, who crossed the line in a time of 19min 4secs.

The first female runner home was Jackie Lloyd, from Liss Runners, who finished in 12th place overall in 23min 2secs.

The top-placed junior runner of the day was Joel Lewis, who finished in 18th place overall in a time of 25min 10secs.

The best age-graded performance of the day was by Andy Turner, from Liss Runners. He finished in third place overall in 19min 55secs, giving him an age-graded performance of 77.15 per cent running in the VM55-59 age category.

The event was made possible by 13 volunteers who helped out on the day – they were: Sarah Wade, Dwayne Bartram, Duncan Johnstone, Amelie Lewis, Sandra Humphrey, Rachel Lewis, Pippa White, Tanya Roberts, Harriet White, Andrea Budden, Becky Garnett, John Roberts and Jane Robertson.
