XCEL Trampolining Squad have started the New Year on a high.

The first double mini trampoline (DMT) competition of the new season was held at Starlight Trampolining Club in Romsey on Sunday, January 15, and the Xcel squad produced some impressive results.

The event was the first stage in qualifying for the DMT regional team selection and it attracted the highest number of entrants to date for a southern DMT competition.

Xcel Trampolining Squad entered eight team members, all of whom qualified first time for the next stage of selection, and with scores already high enough to qualify for the regional finals.

The individual results were: National Development Plan (NDP) 1, 11-12 girls: first place Izzy Greenwood and second place Zara Ahddoud; NDP 2, 9-10 girls: first place Grace Gibson; NDP 3, 13 plus girls: first place Eryn Butler and second place Aria Turner;

NDP 4, 13 plus boys: first place Connor Hitchcock and second place Andrew Lewis; NDP 7, 17 plus girls: first place Nuala Smith.

Head coach Lisa Lewis was delighted.

Lisa said: “It is the first time that all our competitors qualified first time.

“The squad is going from strength to strength and we are all looking forward to the rest of the season.”

The first trampoline qualifiers take place in Milton Keynes this coming Sunday.
