YOUNGSTERS at a Petersfield gym have enjoyed some success at the WAKO British Championships.
World champion kickboxer Saffron Exton, who won a gold medal at the 2014 WKU World Championships in London, opened the LAB99 gym in Petersfield last year.
LAB99 students Tyler Soysal, Jake Robins-Mitchell, Holly Robins-Mitchell and William O’Shea competed at the WAKO British Championships, which is the most prestigious kickboxing competition in the UK.
Holly came up against girls that were more experienced, heavier and older than her, but she managed to come away with a bronze medal. William came up against older and heavier boys, but his skill earned him a silver medal.
Tyler was the youngest in his category by two years, the lightest by five kilos and the shortest by far, and he missed out on a medal.
Jake smashed through his first fight, but he had to stop in his second fight after suffering an injury.
After finishing on the podium Holly and William were both given the chance to train with the WAKO British team to try to get a place on the team for the European Championships later in the year.
Holly and William have trained once with the British team, and they are set to do so again on April 7.
They are also set to attend a training camp in the summer which will have intense training sessions and sparring.
The European Championships will be held in Hungary at the end of August.
