SHEDMAN, the alter ego of writer and poet John Davies, is inspired by all kinds of sheds – garden, aircraft hangars, shedding antlers or skins, tears or light – and he will be sharing his thoughts with a Petersfield audience.
Write Angle will be hosting Shedman at its regular monthly get-together where he will be joined by published poet James Brookes and there will be a chance for writers and musicians to share their works in the open mic session.
Shedman creates workshops and events which explore the place of the shed and is now writing a book about his experiences: Round Britain by Shed. He’s spawned dozens of emulators and triggered a complete category of site specific micro-venue installations, but he remains the authentic original and master of the small space literary interaction.
James has read at the Cuisie Festival Limerick, the Poetry Hearings Festival in Berlin, Shakespeare Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon and the Ledbury Poetry Festival. In 2011 he was awarded a Hawthornden International Writer’s Fellowship.
Petersfield Write Angle is at The Townhouse, 28 High Street, next Tuesday, November 20, at 7.30pm. Entry is £6.
