TODAY the Post can reveal the vision of what a new multi-million pound community and youth centre in Petersfield could look like.

And the group driving forward the project for the complex at Love Lane is urging residents and groups in the town to get behind the idea by letting them know what facilities they want to see in the new building.

The idea of a new community centre on land at Love Lane was included in the Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan and now the Festival for Young People – the group which completed the town’s hugely popular skatepark – has pulled together plans of how the new building could look when it is completed.

A graphic has been produced by Petersfield-based architects Re-Format and is intended to spark debate and comments on the new building.

It shows how the centre could appear looking from the south side, including the potential for an outside performance area.

This is surrounded by sections of the community building – the area on the right hand side could include facilities to be used in conjunction with the Love Lane Stadium – home of Petersfield Town Football Club, who are one of the first partners to join the project.

The project team is now looking for comments and ideas from groups which may use the new centre and residents in general. The first in a series of public meetings to discuss the plans will be held next month.
