TRAFFIC was held up but trains kept running when a lorry got stuck underneath a Petersfield railway bridge.

The Renault Cargo Master was going under the Frenchmans Road bridge toward Station Road when it came to a grinding halt at about 11am on Monday (February 10).

The driver and his mate began directing traffic around it, and within minutes two police cars and three police officers arrived.

While one officer took over regulating the traffic, the others began letting the truck's tyres down.

Soon afterwards, Network Rail experts arrived to check the bridge, while trains continued to rumble overhead.
