A PETERSFIELD company has helped local homeless people by donating to a charity that helps provide food and accommodation to them – and donated to a scheme to improve the facilities at Petersfield skatepark.

Privately-owned Aspire Pharma of Bedford Road business park was founded in 2009 and supplies a range of medicines, medical devices and diagnostics to the NHS, and a further range of over-the-counter pharmacy products to patients.

As the company continues to grow, so does its social responsibility and Aspire now has a department and personnel dedicated to exploring how the company can partner and work with local charities and organisations, to improve the lives and well-being of those less fortunate.

One such partner is Two Saints and in March, Aspire visited the local branch of the charity to deliver two large boxes of donated items, including toiletries, food and bedding and more than £150 worth of gift cards that had been collected by the Aspire staff.

The local branch provides seven much-needed sites that are used as emergency accommodation for people who are homeless, vulnerable or in need of support. Aspire plans to make this a regular occurrence throughout the year; a commitment supported by the entire organisation.

Alongside this initiative with Two Saints, Aspire also recently donated £5,000 to aid the development of the Love Lane Skate Park in Petersfield.

Knowing the importance of providing young people with safe environments, Aspire has since been working closely with the Festival for Young People charity, continuing to raise funds for the skate park.

The partnership is planning a series of events including an 11-mile sponsored walk on July 10 along the South Downs, from Buriton to Cocking, and a Skate Jam on August 15 at the rejuvenated skate park.

Aspire founder and Petersfield resident Graham Fraser-Pye said: “We are privileged as individuals, and as a business, and recognise our actions big and small, impact our world.

“We want to give back to the community we are part of, and to society at large. Most importantly, we acknowledge our basic impetus as humans to care for each other, and our social responsibility actions want to reflect this.”
