JAMES Baker tamed the Butser Hill Challenge on Sunday to win the senior race.
Baker, who was running for Chichester Runners and AC, completed the course in 33min 29sec.
Baker finished 40 seconds ahead of second-placed Samuel Bevan of Basingstoke and Mid Hants.
Julian Manning, who normally runs for Denmead Striders but was running for The Woodpecker pub this year, finished in third place in 35min 34sec.
Ditcham Park’s James Ramsay finished in fourth place in a time of 37min 26sec, and William Feline finished fifth in a time of 38min 2sec.
Before the senior race the day started with the junior races, which were for children in school Year 3 to school Year 11.
Race director Alan Shons said: “This year’s Butser Hill Challenge went really well.
“The weather was good as it wasn’t too hot, and, despite not being 100 per cent fit, James Baker managed to win the senior race.”
For the second year in a row the Butser Hill Challenge was raising money for The Rosemary Foundation.
Last year’s challenge raised more than £4,000 for the hospice at home charity.
“Hopefully, we have also raised more than £4,000 for The Rosemary Foundation this year,” said Alan.
“We are now looking for a new charity to support next year, and I would like to thank Churcher’s College, Fuller’s brewery and MacDonald Oates solicitors for all of their help once again.”
