A picture showing the damage caused by a chip pan fire in a south of Butser home has been released by Hampshire Fire & Rescue.
Firefighters from Waterlooville and Havant fire stations were called to a house on Draycote Road around 11am last Friday amid reports of a kitchen blaze.
The resulting smoke and flames caused significant damage to the kitchen with the homeowner using a blanket to smother the blaze.
Firefighters treated the resident for smoke inhalation and a minor burn before conducting a home fire safety check of the property and leaving around midday.
A spokesperson said: “If you are using a chip pan, don’t leave it unattended and if it catches fire, never use water to extinguish it.”
