WINNERS of the annual Petersfield in Bloom competition were presented with their awards by gardening expert Pippa Greenwood at a prizegiving evening in the town hall.
A television gardening expert and author, Pippa is honorary president of the Petersfield in Bloom organising group and she presented the awards with the host of the awards ceremony, Petersfield Mayor Jamie Matthews.
Winners of the Petersfield Town Council funded and run competition also enjoyed food and refreshments during the hour long awards presentation in The Festival Hall on Thursday, October 5.
Council spokesman Steve Field said: “There was a good turnout of winners at the prizegiving, and it was a very enjoyable evening.”
This year there were 50 entries for the 12 categories, an increase on last year, and it is hoped this could be the springboard for getting more interest in the competition.
Mr Field said: “This year was bigger than last year, and we are happy with the format of the competition and the new format for the awards evening introduced last year.
“So we are pleased with this year’s turnout.
“We are looking forward to next year very much, and hopefully this increase in entries will continue in future, we want to see the competition grow.”
This year judges from Liss Horticultural Society and Empshott and Hawkley Horticultural Society selected the 12 winners and 24 second and third place entries.
Mr Field added: “They were very impressed with the entries, and we would like to thank all who have made the effort, and entered the competition.”
