A FEAST of Baroque music is to be performed in the atmospheric candlelit surroundings of St Peter’s Church, Petersfield.

Baroque by Candlelight, by acclaimed professional orchestra Southern Pro Musica, is being held on Saturday, February 11, at 7.30pm.

The orchestra is very well known and loved by Petersfield audiences as it has performed in the town several times each season for the last 20 years.

The programme is an enticing one for classical music lovers, with two concertos framed by some of the most popular works of the baroque repertoire by such composers as Bach, Handel, Pachelbel and Purcell.

These include Pachelbel’s ‘canon and gigue’ and Bach’s ‘Suite no 1 in C’.

The principal artists are Sophie Langdon on violin, Helen Barker and Andrew King on oboes, and Jonathan Willcocks as conductor.

Tickets are £15, and £5 to those aged 18 and under.
