COMMUNITIES across East Hampshire are pulling out all the stops this weekend to make sure the Queen’s birthday goes with a bang.
Everything from hog roasts to concerts have been planned, with something for everyone.
Liss villagers are invited to see the spectacle of the Queen’s birthday parade in London live on the big screen at The Triangle Centre on Saturday. This special Trooping of the Colour is on just before 1pm, but the coffee bar is open from 9.30am. Entry is free.
Over at St Mary’s Church in Liss, a celebratory service is being held on Sunday, at 10.15am.
All are invited to a parish lunch at St Peter’s Hall, Petersfield, on Sunday. Sign up in St Peter’s Church.
Crown-making and games are highlights of a Royal?Village Picnic at East Meon. This is on The Green on Sunday from 5pm to 7pm, with free hot dogs.

Winchester’s Cathedral Close will be abuzz on Saturday as groups of families and friends come together for a street party and picnic from 12.30pm to 4.30pm.
This will feature live music and vintage fairground rides. There will be food and drink available to buy, and tea will be served by the Friends of the Cathedral. People are invited to bring their own picnics.
In the evening, the highly-acclaimed Foden’s Brass Band will raise the roof with a royal-flavoured concert in the cathedral.
Brass Britannia, at 8pm, will feature Last Night of the Proms favourites such as Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No 1, giving the audience the chance to join in with Land of Hope and Glory at the end.
This will be rounded off by a firework display at 10pm.

A hog roast is being held on Headley village green on Saturday from 3pm. Picnics can be taken, and there are food stalls and a beer and Pimms tent.
Children will enjoy fairground rides, and there is a birthday cake competition. Call 01428 713132 for details.
Residents aged 90 or over will be treated to a free cream tea at a community event at Grayshott on the recreation ground on Sunday from 1-5pm.
There will be a cricket match, maypole dancing and a barbecue. Villagers are invited to take picnics.
A street party will be held on the green at Lindford on Saturday at 3pm.
Free cream teas will be offered at Lindford Church on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm.
