Staff at a farm shop in the Hartings are hungry for further success after claiming a national title.
Sky Park Farm Shop saw off competition from six competitors to taste victory in the finals of the Farm Shop and Deli Awards.
The acclaimed retailer came top of the podium in the Small Farm Shop Category during the industry showpiece in Birmingham.
Judges lauded the shop’s “exceptional local produce, service, knowledge and heritage” in awarding Sky Park the top prize.
The accolade is an indication of the shop’s progression as Sky Park only opened in 2021. But judges are convinced the “fantastic entry” will be regulars at future ceremonies, with one believing in they will only go “from strength to strength in the coming years”.
The journey to the final began in November with an esteemed panel of judges, led by food and drink broadcaster and champion, Nigel Barden, whittling down a shortlist from hundreds of entries.
Achievements in the independent sector were a major factor but the team’s expert product knowledge and devotion to locally produced meat and produce also impressed.
Sky Park Farm Shop has become a “go-to” for many Rother Valley locals after being established as a community hub in October 2021.
Their local ethos is key with 80 per cent of produce sold in the shop produced within a 30-mile radius, highlighting the quality on offer within the South Downs.
The team said they were delighted to win national recognition for their work, and look forward to welcoming new customers.
