Plans to build eight family homes on a backland site in Horndean have been approved despite concerns over access and vehicle movements.

A handful of barns and equestrian buildings behind 123a Frogmore lane will be demolished to open up an L-shaped plot for development.

Four and three-bedroom properties will make up 2 and 6 of the proposed houses, respectively, in a development that “makes realistic use of the land”.

Some 37 objections were lodged while Horndean Parish Council also raised concerns about the “unsuitable” access from between 121 and 123 Frogmore Lane in their submission.

However, the EHDC planning committee approved the application by 6 votes to 0 with two abstentions, as they felt the benefits of the scheme outweighed any harm caused.
