Community-minded people in East Hampshire can learn more about giving back and volunteering opportunities during a special event in Whitehill & Bordon.
Residents can connect with local charities, groups and good causes during the Whitehill & Bordon volunteer fair on Wednesday, November 19.
The fair will be held at Forest Community Centre in Bordon and is being organised by Hampshire-wide charity Community First on behalf of EHDC.
The three-hour event will showcase the many ways people can make a difference, from supporting families and older people to helping animals and local projects, and celebrate the incredible work being carried out by charities and groups in the area.
Organisations that have confirmed their attendance include Home-Start Hampshire, The Hunter Centre, South Downs National Park Authority, Alton Tennis Club, Green Banks Care and the University of Chichester (Multi) Academy Trust.
Councillors Andy Tree and Cllr Adeel Shah will also be in attendance to represent Whitehill Town Council and East Hampshire District Council.
Tim Houghton, Chief Executive of Community First, believes the event is a must for anyone with an interest in giving something back to the community.
He said: “This fair is a fantastic opportunity for people, of any age, who want to make a difference in their community to meet organisations that rely on volunteers to do what they do.
“Volunteering benefits everyone – it strengthens communities, builds friendships and gives people a sense of purpose.
“We hope to see lots of people inspired to find their ideal volunteering role.”
The Volunteer Fair will take place from 1pm until 4pm.
The need for volunteers in the Whitehill & Bordon area was identified by attendees of the Community Catch Up forums, which are regularly hosted by Community First to discuss support for the voluntary sector in East Hampshire.
