A fortnight ago it looked like Petersfield Charity Christmas card shop would not be able to open this year.
Volunteers behind the shop that sells Christmas cards in aid of local and national charities had been searching for premises for some time.
Volunteer Mike Robinson said: “There were a number of empty shops in the town, but we were unable to rent any of them.
“But town councillor Phil Shaw came to the rescue as he knew that Mimosa opposite the Red Lion was moving to new premises, and we were able to secure their old premises until December 17.
“With help from Petersfield Lions Club, volunteers from previous years, and those who had responded to our social media posts, we are now open in a bright and welcoming shop.
“And town mayor Peter Clist (pictured right with Mike) was kind enough to pop in and wish us luck.
“There are Christmas cards from 48 national and local charities, as well as a wide range of gifts to help your Christmas go with a sparkle while helping those in need.
“We look forward to welcoming you into the happiest shop in town with two jolly Santas outside.”
