THE LISS Heart Charity Trust shop has re-opened after being closed for three weeks due to refurbishment works.

The work was carried out by Alf Ford and trustee Tony Berriman.

The Liss Heart Charity Trust was created under a declaration of trust in July 1983 and it succeeded the Liss Heart Trust which was established in 1978.

The trust has many volunteers who help run its charity shop in the village.

The outlet has been a success and has raised many thousands of pounds for the trust, as well as creating many friendships between the volunteers and the customers.

The customers don’t always buy something and sometimes like to come in for a chat.

The current trustees are Tony, Colin Anderson, Pat Smith and Derek Williams.

Tony is responsible for the shop, Pat is the secretary and Derek is the treasurer.

The trustees are responsible for ensuring that the trust deed dated July 11, 1983, is effectively implemented.

The trustees also meet with doctors to discuss ways to continue to be effective.

The trustees also meet with the practice managers, Jane Dawson at the Riverside Kelsey Surgery on Station Road, and Mike Korab at the Liphook and Liss Surgery on Hill Brow Road.

The Liss Heart Charity Trust is still going strong after 34 years, but it can only carry on raising funds with the continued support of the community in donating and buying goods from the shop.

Since the shop opened in 1999 the trust has raised in excess of £120,000.

This has enabled the trust to not only buy new equipment but continually update existing equipment, extend its remit and support the surgeries with equipment for other patient health conditions.
