AN?ANIMATED short film showing a life-saving technique has been praised by a Petersfield mother after it helped save her child.
The Chokeables TV advertisment was funded by St John Ambulance and the 40-second film shows how to save a choking child.
Jenny Bennett, of Borough Road, thought it was so good she told her friends all about it, little realising it would help save her three-year-old daughter Emma.
She said: “She was making gulping noises and was very red in the face. She was choking on some chopped apple.
“I gave her a pat on the back, which did nothing – it was one of the most terrifying moments of my life.
“I then remembered The Chokeables.
“I put her face down on my lap and gave her some hard whacks on the back, and a bit of apple flew across the room.
“She recovered and ran off to play but if I hadn’t known what to do it could have been a very different result.
“I would urge parents to watch The Chokeables, so they know what to do if they ever find themselves in a similar situation.”
