A CLASSIC car enthusiast from Petersfield is loaning his prized Morgan car to a father and daughter so they can enjoy some quality time together.
Andrew Morison (79) lives on the outskirts of Sheet and is loaning his valuable 1934 three wheeler Morgan to them for 12 months through the Classic Car Loan Project (CCLP).
He said: “It encourages younger people to become interested in classic cars.
“The young lady applied as she wants to spend some quality time with her father, who loves classic cars.
“It will be fully insured and is not difficult to drive, and the young lady will have some training driving it, so I’m sure everything will be fine.”
Vintage Morgans can fetch around £30,000, and Andrew, a long serving member and officer of the Morgan Three Wheel Club, first fell for a three-wheel vehicle aged just five.
He said: “I have been keen on them ever since, they are wonderful to drive.
“Their relatively powerful engines and light bodywork also make them great competitors on the classic car racing circuit, often beating cars like Bugatti’s.”
But latterly his three wheeler, affectionately called Mabel, with its tiny cockpit has taken a back seat to a far roomier model.
Andrew said: “I am finding Mabel harder to get in and out of nowadays, so I shall probably keep her available to the project.
“I have a modern Morgan three-wheeler called Matilda I can get in and out of easily, and I’m driving that.”
The CCLP is run by classic car buff Bob Wilkinson, who can be contacted on 01832 734463.
It is supported by Peter James Specialist Vehicle Insurance which can be e-mailed at info@ peterjamesinsurance.co.uk
