VILLAGERS have been urged not to respond to cold callers offering goods or home and garden maintenance services.
The warning from the Hampshire Trading Standards Service follows reports about diesel generators being sold at the door.
Furthermore, they believe the practice will increase given the arrival of warmer temperatures, longer days and better weather. Residents should always use a fully approved trader, ideally a member of the Trading Standards ‘But With Confidence’ scheme.
To report doorstep crime or to request a ‘Buy With Confidence’ directory call the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 040506.
Police are also looking into reports that workmen who recently surfaced a drive in Finchdean could be rogue traders.
