A COMMUNITY festival in Steep drew people from far and wide last weekend when Bedales held its annual celebration in recognition of its founder, John Haden Badley.
Visitors were treated to displays which included birds of prey, a petting zoo and hands-on activities such as code-breaking, a climbing wall, cake decorating, pizza baking and sand art. An activity tent set up by Bedales Pre-prep, Dunannie, kept the under eights entertained and live music and refreshments around the pavilion proved a hit with visitors to Bedales Community Festival.
Throughout the year Bedales students take part in charitable activities echoing the founder’s emphasis on educating ‘head, hand and heart’, and this year’s festival raised £2,300 for charities, which will be divided between Mencap, Home-Start Butser and the King’s Arms youth project in Petersfield.
