A COMMUNITY garden for residents to grow sustainable produce and plants is being launched by The Whitehill and Bordon Community Trust at Mustangs on Prince Philip Park.

The new garden has been offered to the community by the Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company and is on a previously unused piece of land.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging both experienced and novice gardeners to plant and grow fruit, vegetables and flowers for the benefit of the whole community.

New gardeners will be able to learn from green fingered members of the community. The gardens also offer a great learning opportunity for children who will see their crops grow, and will have the chance to eat their own produce.

Whitehill and Bordon Community Trust manager Hannah Ashwell said: “The new community garden is a great project for local residents to get involved in.

“We hope local people and community groups will enjoy creating and managing their own areas of the garden, as well as contributing to the whole space.

“We’d love to hear from people who want to be involved, volunteer or support this project.” To encourage residents to join the initiative, a launch event will be held on Saturday, March 24, from 10am–noon.

Attendees will have the chance to speak with the community trust about the garden and contribute their own ideas. Children will be able to plant the first vegetables and flowers.

Refreshments will be on offer and donations of tools will be welcomed.
