A WARNING about train cancellations and delays to rail users has gone out from South West Trains as Storm Imogen hits.
Gale force winds of up to 55mph are expected today (Monday) with the strongest gusts between 11am and 3pm.
And these are expected to cross much of the South West Train routes – including the Portsmouth to London service. Checks were made through the night to ensure tracks were clear of debris to allow for a safe service to run.
As a result, the first timetabled trains on some routes may have been cancelled.
Said a spokesman: “Winds are expected to be particularly strong between 11am and 3pm, affecting services on the Southampton to Weymouth route, and also the Portsmouth to London via Haslemere and Guildford route.
“Between these times, trains will run at the reduced speed as a safety precaution and some journey times may be extended by up to 30 minutes.”
