In April this year East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) took over responsibility for parking and traffic issues in the district from Hampshire County Council.
EHDC parking and traffic manager Emma Pond said: “We are now responsible for all parking issues, yellow lines, new schemes, enforcing parking restrictions, and traffic management, which before was done by the county council.
“Until next April, we are focusing on safety issues, parking on both sides of roads that restricts access, parking by junctions, busy roads, visibility, that kind of thing.

“We will then choose the ones that need to be resolved the quickest, and produce a scheme.
“We plan to have the projects completed by the end of March next year.”
At a presentation to the Petersfield, Liss and surrounding villages’ community forum on Wednesday, November 2, Emma told the meeting that residents would be consulted about any proposed works.
She said it was part of the statutory process that public consultations are held to get residents views before any projects are carried out.
She added after the meeting: “At the moment there aren’t any specific projects in mind, we are meeting with councillors to find out if they know of any issues in their areas, and our engineers are out looking at roads where there maybe problems, or we think there could be.”
She said that existing parking schemes introduced by the county council will remain in force, and that the EHDC team didn’t have the scope to plan for new car parks.
Public consultations about proposed schemes would be carried out in the New Year, she said.
