COUNCILLORS in a Rother Valley community may have drawn the line on plans to move part of a village into a neighbouring parish.

The owners of three properties in Nyewood have found themselves in the centre of a tug of war over where the Harting and Rogate parish boundary should be drawn.

Nyewood is part of Harting parish but three properties north of the former Petersfield to Midhurst branch line are in Rogate.

A suggestion to move the boundary so every Nyewood property is in Harting was made as part of a Chichester District Council review.

But parish councillors in Rogate have resolved to keep the status quo as they see “no demonstrable need for the change” and feel it would incur administrative costs for local councils and mapping companies.
