THOUSANDS of people made the most of the glorious weather and packed out Petersfield’s town centre for the annual Summer Festival over the weekend.

The three-day event, which traditionally takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, was a huge success with the sun shining throughout.

There were plenty of events to keep people entertained, including live music, face painting, a reptile petting zoo, and some classic cars on display.

A series of market stalls was set up all along High Street, selling everything from food and drink to items for the home.

There were also some charity stalls raising money for worthy causes.

In The Square, people enjoyed a range of beers from around the area, as well as sipping a glass or two of Prosecco. A variety of bands and singers kept the crowd entertained.

Steve Jacob is one of the organisers from Hometown Festivals. He said he was thrilled with how the event went. “The weekend was awesome in every possible way,” he said.

“The weather was perfect, we had perfect crowds, perfect music and entertainment.

“There were many highlights to the weekend, including the range of classic cars on show during Sunday, as well as the American hot rods and classics from the Solent Renegades on Monday.”

On Monday, the 501st Legion UK Garrison came to Petersfield in their Star Wars costumes.

Steve added: “The smiles on people’s faces were incredible with probably more adults than children enjoying the displays.

“We have had the total raised by the Star Wars characters coming to town and it is over £700 towards the Round Table Children’s Wish charity.

“We are still waiting on final figures on other charity donations raised by the event but everyone seemed to have an awesome weekend. All of the community and charity stalls seemed to be busy.

“The town should be almost back to normal now with a final day or two from myself and Ben making sure we remove all of our signs and promotional material to ensure we keep our home town clean.”
